East Surrey College based in Redhill has recently opened a new building to support learning and development for the local community. A rigorous planning process was followed to ensure that the new building had a positive impact on the landscape and met rigorous environmental and sustainability requirements.

DMA Signs designed, manufactured and installed the entire sign package at the college in-line with the new site’s architecture and eco-friendly goals. A wayfinding solution was developed for the college that was both functional and in keeping with the building’s modern design. The elegant, robust and flexible Modular Sign System was implemented internally to provide the college with an appropriate solution to allow their sign system to be extended and easily updated as the facility expands.

The sign system adopted at the college building is designed to be tamper resistant, making it suitable for a busy educational environment. DMA worked with the College’s brand guidelines and key colour palettes to produce a quality design strategy, implementing colour coding for each floor level.

Externally, DMA’s ‘V’ lock monoliths were installed, which are touted by the company as the most durable, cost effective option. They can also be easily updated. All external signage was finished with an anti-graffiti lacquer, and all components were fitted with tamper proof fixings.

East Surrey College’s new facility include a two-storey Learning Resources Centre, modern leisure facilities, Winter Garden – a large enclosed atrium with stylish café, landscaped Summer gardens, Mac suites and an industry standard TV and recording studio.
