Sunset Mall, designed by Dubai based architects Arkiteknik, integrates green technology to conserve energy, to save costs on utility bills and to decrease the carbon footprint on the environment.
The project comprises a luxury shopping mall, boutique offices and residential apartments. The architecture of Sunset capitalizes on natural light and the view of the Arabia Gulf.
The mall is covered by glass, making the retail showrooms visible from outside. Transparent glass used is designed to divert heat, and hence reduces the load on the air conditioners and help conserve energy.
The utilization of natural sunlight till late hours of the day, will keep the apartments and retails showrooms bright without the use of artificial lighting.
The interior of the Mall features the latest innovations in LCD and LED technology, offering innovative visual effects.
The residential complex is designed in such a way as to offer every home a sea view and promotes waterfront style living. They also feature several balconies to make the residents enjoy the beautiful view outside. The atrium inside the apartments features a lounge with coffee shops to promote a community style ambiance.
The ecologically friendly materials and non-HCFC refrigerants used in the complex will ensure healthier surroundings. They have made use of heat recovery wheels to recover energy from the general extract air from the building and minimize the electric power consumption, says Abdallah Moneimneh, Technical Director at Arkiteknik International.
Efficient thermal insulation system installed and high performance low E- glass are some other features which will help the building to minimize heat gains.
The air conditioning system is designed to achieve precise control of temperature and humidity levels and the basement car park ventilation is monitored and controlled with CO sensors to ensure a smoke free environment.
The apartments, boutique offices and mall retail showrooms at Sunset feature energy saving lamps, LEDs and T5 lamps with special electronics control gear .The dimming and lighting controls offer greater flexibility for switching the light on only in occupied areas of all individual enclosed spaces.
Advanced surveillance and fire protection systems are some other features in the complex.
