The school introduced a contracting firm, which will be responsible for the renovations and expansion. The renovation plans include building new science labs, removal of asbestos, ceiling replacement, moving tennis courts and adding fire sprinklers. These would be completed before the arrival of the teachers in August.
Phase I of the renovation is expected to be completed by May 28, 2010. Phase II includes the third floor overhang and facade, and is expected to complete around Thanksgiving and winter holidays. Phase III involves the building of a new auditorium, which would begin simultaneously. It is expected to be completed by January 2011. Once that phase is completed, the upper parking lot at DHS will be open for use.
Natural sunlight would be used to light the auditorium and third floor. School authorities also added that if the project is within budget, planting of trees and other landscaping works would be done too.
