Providing a new upgraded railway station to the passengers, the renovation includes the provision of a larger, brighter, and more accessible ticket office, making the buying of tickets easier. Passenger facilities have also been improved, with more ticket gates, which makes access to the platforms easier during busy times.
In addition to that, the upgrade also included a revamped waiting room with better passenger information and a new retail unit allowing passengers to buy refreshments and newspapers. New fully accessible toilets have also been installed with baby changing facilities.
According to Jake Kelly, customer service director for the South West Trains/Network Rail Alliance, the railway station with improved modern facilities will encourage more passengers to travel by rail to work and pleasure. He added that the government is committed to invest £50 million ($80.1 million) in stations by 2017.
