The ongoing renovation of the Farnham Sports Centre is undertaken by Waverley Borough Council (WBC) in Surrey. According to the council, the center’s new 90-station gym, enlarged reception and revamped swimming pools will open in May 2010. The construction, which commenced in November 2009, was delayed by wintry weather conditions.

The center will receive a coffee house-style café as part of the renovation. The café is integrated by altering the layout of the reception area. The first stage also involved carrying out of concrete piling work.

The second stage of the renovation scheme will encompass improvements to the sports hall, activity rooms, squash courts, dance studio and dry changing rooms. The sports hall will be painted blue in accordance with Sport England’s guidelines. A separate male and female sauna will be built in the dry changing areas.

The refurbishment is part of a GBP9.1 million ($14 million approx) scheme to enhance three 30-year-old leisure buildings in Waverley.
