Due to open this summer, the 13,000-seat First Direct Arena is a purpose built fan shaped super theatre built with an investment of £80 million. Operators of the arena intend to host over 140 events a year.

Legrand secured the specification as a result of its Zucchini busbar and transformers complementing the switchboard solutions of specifier, GR Electrical Services.

Zucchini EdM cast resin transformers are made with self-extinguishing materials. They do not contain inflammable insulating liquids and are claimed to be safer than traditional transformers. In addition, low noise levels and low electromagnetic emissions make the transformers environmentally friendly.

The compact dimensions of Zucchini SCP busbar are resistant to short circuit stresses and voltage drops. These can be used to transport and distribute high power from 630 to 6,300A.

Available in sizes from 160 to 1,000A, Zucchini MR medium rating busbar can be supplied with aluminium or copper conductors. It has a large range of tap-off boxes from 16 to 1000 A, which allows the supply and protection of a wide range of loads using different devices such as fuses, MCBs and MCCBs.
