A new fine-dining restaurant in Mayfair called Bonheur by Matt Abé is to open in autumn 2025 at the site of the former Le Gavroche on Upper Brook Street.
Bonheur by Matt Abé marks chef Abé’s first solo venture after 18 years under the mentorship of Gordon Ramsay and, most recently, his role as chef patron at the three Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.
Subtle nods to Abé’s Australian roots are woven throughout the interior design, spearheaded by Russell Sage Studio, while menus feature classically rooted cuisine with a contemporary touch.
For a more intimate encounter, the Chef’s Table, Petit Bonheur, will seat six guests for a front-row experience of the kitchen’s artistry and Abé’s philosophy of open, collaborative cooking.
Guests will have the freedom to choose between a more approachable á la carte selection or explore one of the carefully curated tasting menus. ‘[The French] “Bonheur” translates to “happiness”, so for me, Bonheur is a place of escapism,’ said Abé. ‘We’re breathing new life into an iconic site, creating a space that is elevated without overwhelming; that is warm, timeless and comfortable; and that celebrates community, craftsmanship and the bounty of the British Isles.’
