Created between 1984 and 1986 by Frank Gehry, the lamps are a new take on the old series, which is made up of shattered pieces of plastic laminate, resembling fish scales.
Made with ColorCore plastic laminate initially, the designer has used larger, jagged elements in the later stage to create the fish lamp. The fish lamp has been created using wire armatures molded into fish shapes to form the base of the initial forms, with the shards then attached to the base one by one by the use of glue to create the image of a living fish.

Frank Gehry’s Fish Lamps will be on display from 11 January through 14 February 2013 in Los Angeles and from 24 January through 9 March 2013 in Paris.
