The project has more than doubled the size of the existing building including expansion of its children’s section and restrooms. The facility will also feature a new story-time room, a teen space, study rooms, a community meeting room, as well as a drive-up book return as part of the overhaul work. The revamped library will increase its number of computers with internet service to 36 for adults and eight for children as against the previous 12 for adults and two for children. The entire facility will also offer free Wi-Fi access as part of the project.

The building will imbibe several green features such as use of solar power. It will also install energy-efficient chillers, boilers and lighting fixtures which are expected to slash its energy consumption by about 80% while its footprint will be more than twice its existing one after the facelift. The facility is also slated to be the first in the US to incorporate plug-ins in its parking area to serve electric cars.
