The designs were inspired by Spanish and Mediterranean architecture. According to Geoff Woodward, Gaylord’s vice president of development, Andalusia architecture from Spain is the basic inspiration of the design. The design services are provided by architectural firm TVS & Associates of Atlanta.
“Given the context that we’re in the desert Southwest and things can be done creatively with the backdrop of the Superstition Mountains,” Woodward said.
The new 12 storey building would be planned with attractive atriums and dome roofs, giving more importance to hotel interiors.
According to an economic analysis by Elliott D. Pollack & Company, the Gaylord project could fill 8,000 construction jobs and additional 4,000 jobs in the future.
