The 60 feet long arched gateway with 28-inch high letters spelling out ‘Geneva College’, leads to a four-lane wide road opening at Route 18 and 31st Street in Beaver Falls.

The archway, fabricated for Geneva College by Gray Welding, weighs more than 6,200 pounds and comprises 240 individual pieces. It is made with about 90% recycled steel.

Harris Masonry will clad the columns with a light-colored sandstone and limestone trim designed to complement the stonework of Geneva Colleges’ McCartney Library.

The entrance avenue or boulevard is named Mackall Drive. It features two lanes for entrance and two lanes for exit. The middle of the boulevard is adorned with landscaped islands and lamp posts with two glass acorn-shaped globes.

A tree-lined pedestrian walkway spanning Northwood Hall to Alexander Hall and an expanded Alumni Hall parking lot will be constructed. The entire project named ‘Beyond the Bend’ is expected to be completed by late 2009. Jendoco Construction Corporation of Pittsburgh is the main contractor.
