The new limestone-clad three-story academic building will house updated classrooms, featuring more room for academic space. The building is designed to accommodate Communication Studies, Economics and Management, History, Psychology and Sociology, and Anthropology programs.

BWBR has designed the building in an attempt to make it a ‘green’ facility and will seek U.S. Green Building Council -Gold certification from U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The architects have made use of limestone that envelops the exterior from local quarries only. Besides limestone, about 20% of the materials will come from regional sources. About 10% of the materials will come from recycled sources and the inside of the academic building will feature a public atrium to facilitate community meetings and interactions.

The energy-efficient design of the facility features abundant natural lighting, low-emitting finishes, and a white roof that reduces the heat island effect, bicycle storage and showers for bike riders, and dedicated parking for eco-friendly cars. The building is designed to consume 44% less energy.
