The new security check point is the center piece of the renovation and has combined all the security screening at a single point. Previously there were two separate screening areas that were becoming increasingly congested during peak hours.

The new single centralised security checkpoint features an express lane and offers panoramic views. It also offers exclusive rocking chairs and seating pieces from Adirondack Furniture for the comfort of those passengers who wish to sit down after going through security.

The new checkpoint is accessible from an escalator in the main lobby. A new coffee kiosk operated by Café Kubal will be located in the post-security area. The kiosk would be part of a host of new outlets that are expected to open in the post-security hallways.

The airport renovation began in 2011 and is expected to be completed by late summer 2013. The project is being funded entirely through a ticket surcharge by airlines.
