Being developed by Arlington County Department of Environmental Services, the new Arlington Mill community centre is a five-storey building, which will have a total area of 60,000 square feet. The site is located adjacent to an existing park; and Four Mile Run, multi-purpose trails.

The facility will include a 7,400 square feet gymnasium, multi-purpose class rooms, multi-purpose rooms, a playground for children, and 1,840 square feet of retail space, overlooking an outdoor public plaza. It also includes two-level underground parking. Construction of the community centre and the garage is expected to be completed by July 2013.

The material palette to be used consists of metal panel, curtain wall glazing, and high pressure wood laminate. The building is being aspired for LEED Silver certification. Key green features of the building will consist of a rain harvesting cistern, green roof, low flow fixtures, and abundant regional landscaping.
