The central hub surrounding the current city hall will include a new city hall, a performing arts center and city plaza, along with residential and entertainment outlets. It is being developed for mixed use purpose, and will cater to the needs of changing developments.
As per the agreement, San Francisco-based HOK Architects will be the lead consultant firm on the project, while TMG Partners will assist the project. The project involves the development of 110 acres of ground surrounding the current city hall.
The urban design plan will take into consideration changing market conditions, while incorporating green and pedestrian oriented streetscapes. Private and public shared parking plans, pedestrian amenities; open space civic uses and public art will also be included in the project.
The ground level of the project is expected to include retail spaces, while the over all development will include housing, offices, government/civic uses, entertainment, open space/parks, and cultural arts.
Energy efficient methods will be used to realize the project, which will be designed to reflect Fremont’s cultural diversity in the design and development of the downtown. The entire design and planning process is expected to be complete within a year.
