Conceived as a sophisticated dining destination, the $5 million Japengo showcases modern Asian-inspired flavors with Hawaiian flair. Located at the lobby level, guests can enjoy Japengo’s indoor and outdoor patio seating overlooking the resort’s waterfalls and famed Ka’anapali Beach. The design scheme has been led by Island Design Center.

Island Design Center has sought design inspiration from a Japanese fishing village and offered an updated interpretation of it. The Maui resort restaurant has been designed to provide a variety of distinctive settings, each offering a unique dining experience.

Guests are greeted by the Village Alley Walk, clad in mossy green rustic porcelain tiles, and are led to the vibrant Sushi Lounge. The setting is infused with updated Asian elements and a minimalistic design providing a Zen-like backdrop. The entire environ wears a clubby ambiance thanks to the lustrous elongated amber pendant lamps and banquettes of wasabi-green and deep olive. The exterior space is furnished with pin spot lighting, and high-backed settees in bright-hued fabrics. The Sushi Lounge can seat 49 people.

Japengo has been unveiled as a part of the resort’s extensive $15 million transformation. The refurbishment scheme included the complete renovation of all guestrooms.
