The aim behind the project was to transform the Haymarket – one of Edinburgh’s most neglected city centre sites – into a thriving hotel and commercial quarter.
The project is scheduled to open in 2013, and is a part of Tiger’s GBP250 million ($345.9 million) plan.
The hotel will be licensed as an InterContinental hotel to Tiger Developments under a 20 year franchise agreement, and will be managed by BDL.
The project is expected to create around 400 jobs during construction and 1,600 more following completion.
As well as developing the hotel, Tiger also plans on adding 342,000 square ft of office space and a boulevard lined with cafes and shops to enhance and improve the Haymarket.
