Joliet Park District board has approved a proposed plan to replace the surface of the stadium with artificial turf. The current asphalt track around the field will be replaced with a rubberized competitive running surface.
The turf installation for the stadium is part of phase 1 of renovating the Memorial Stadium. Construction project will begin, following completion of the renovation process. As part of the renovations, the 58-year-old facility has received a video scoreboard with replay capabilities.
The new artificial turf is expected to give long lasting performance, as different groups of teams use the field through out the year.
