Corian is a solid surface material distributed and sold by American chemical company DuPont. It can be used both in the home and in different commercial environments.
‘Smart-ologic Corian Living’ is a forward-thinking home concept based on the design versatility and sensuous qualities of DuPont Corian. Smart-ologic Corian Living will also present possible options for ‘futuristic’ forms of DuPont Corian featuring sustainably sourced materials. Further high-tech DuPont solutions for improving energy-efficiency and decreasing the environmental imprint of buildings are also part of the design. These include DuPont Tyvek breather membranes and the phase change solution, DuPont Energain, developed to add lightweight thermal mass to modern buildings.
All the areas of the home – kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, garden – will be creatively interpreted by Karim Rashid and populated by a variety of smart design solutions in which DuPont Corian is the key player and connecting element. The design will feature several of the newly launched colors for Corian that include recycled content.
DuPont Corian is used in a wide range of applications in segments as varied as hospitality, healthcare, catering, publics spaces and retail, as well as in home furnishing, furniture, lighting and decorative objects. It is a non-porous solid surface material that is stain-resistant, easy to clean, durable, renewable and repairable. Available in about 100 standard colors, DuPont Corian solid surfaces can be shaped into virtually any conceivable design.
