The new City Academy Norwich on Earlham Road in Norwich replaces the old Earlham High School on Bluebell Road. The three-storey school has been built using timber frame. The backside of the school has a large atrium, which looks out on to the wooded area behind it. The atrium features two curved staircases, which leads to the classrooms on the first and second floors.
Constructed within budget and in a time-frame of 16-months, the new City Academy Norwich boast several sustainable elements, which comprises roof top solar panels, which generates green power to fuel electricity requirements of the building. The building uses heat generated by the University of East Anglia’s biomass boiler to heat the building.
The school focuses on the creative arts and is complete with radio studios, a television studio, and music rehearsal rooms. The school also has a community wing, which accommodates a dance and movement studio, a gym and a sports hall. The community wing of the building will be open to the public for use by clubs in the Earlham area.
