The renovation of the nearly 50-year-old facility mainly focuses on making it more energy efficient. Part of the plans also includes the conversion of the 150 patient rooms into private suites.

The most necessary improvements are replacing the windows on the north side of the building with energy-efficient ones. This would be done to solve the heating and cooling problems. The roof of the facility is also in need of repairs.

Renovations would also include changes being made to the interiors of the hospital, which would include new flooring, tile, painting, and transforming the older patient rooms in the 309-bed acute-care hospital into private suites. The suites would feature a warmer colors and a more patient-friendly environment.

The renovation is expected to complete by February 2011.
