The new home of Community Hospital-Fairfax, spanning 51,500 square feet on a 37-acre site, features 16 private, inpatient rooms; a 24-hour emergency department; laboratory space; radiology services; and rooms for physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
According to Jeff Monzu, AIA, LEO A DALY Omaha senior associate, project manager, one of the most notable features of the new hospital is the incorporation of single nurse station. This has been intended to support efficient operation of the emergency department and the inpatient unit with all necessary services nearby. In this way, patient load can be promptly managed by the nursing staff.
The facility has been designed as an inpatient, outpatient and emergency care. The addition of outpatient services to the new facility offers more convenience and accessibility to regular patients. Previously, outpatient services were provided from other off-site buildings.
LEO A DALY’s other healthcare projects include Via Christi Hospital, Wichita, Kan.; New England Center for Children Autism Clinic, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; and Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge, Iowa.
