The housing scheme will be designed according to HAPPI recommendations (Housing for an Ageing Population Panel for Innovation) and will accommodate the existing residents of Penn House on Lisson Grove.
The new residential scheme for elderly people will provide around 90 flats and 6000 square metre of healthcare space and community facilities. In addition to that, the scheme will also provide offices and 1,300 square metre of enterprise space. The project also includes schemes for a children’s nursery.
The scheme will meet the exacting high standards of Westminster City Council and will be developed and progressed with the maximum resident and stakeholder involvement.
The scheme will be developed to meet the five key principles of the Westminster Housing Renewal Strategy (March 2010): To increase the supply and quality of affordable homes to meet a variety of local needs, including housing for families; to improve the quality of the local environment with outstanding green and open spaces and housing that promotes low energy consumption and environmental sustainability; to promote a high quality of life for people of all ages and backgrounds, in safe, cohesive and healthy neighbourhoods, supported by a range of high quality housing and excellent community facilities; to enable people to maximise economic opportunity in Westminster with support for training, employment and enterprise and housing tenures which help those in work to remain in the City; and to create a more distinct sense of neighbourhood, ending the physical divide between Westminster’s estates and surrounding local streets.
To be constructed in two phases, the project will start by the end of 2013.
