The project is being executed in two phases. Phase I involves construction of a second floor on the northeast portion of the facility spanning about 23,000 square feet. The addition will feature 19 offices, eight classrooms and six labs dedicated for general academic purposes and for the Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance. The revamped structure will also sport a new facade which matches with the rest of the campus buildings and will also feature an overhauled main entrance.
The second phase will lead to creation of a new building in the southwest end of the facility. The 34,000 square feet building will encompass two floors. It will comprise facilities for athletics, athletic training and ROTC with expanded athletic training and treatment areas, extra locker room spaces, Athletic Department offices, study rooms, an expanded laundry and storage areas. Various other adjoining spaces of the facility will also undergo a facelift. In addition, the ROTC programme of the University will be relocated to new facilities on the second storey of the building while the existing ROTC building will be upgraded and used as a general academic facility.
Phase is slated for completion in early 2012 and the second phase is due to be completed by the end of 2012.
