HI-MACS® “Urban Nes(x)t”

At Fuorisalone the first highlight of the exhibition was “Urban Nes(x)t”. The HI-MACS® stand was a part of the Home Spa Design Exhibition, which presented a full house concept on which the highlight was the new kitchen-concept HOMMM. These newcomers chose the new generation Solid Surface and constructed the whole kitchen from HI-MACS®. This new type of kitchen island, created by Brazilian designer Ricardo Antonio, from Oscar Niemeyer’s school – was one of the show’s most eye-catching exhibits and created quite a stir. The HI-MACS® properties – its ability to form complicated curved shapes, hygienic finish and robustness – made HI-MACS® the number one choice.

Other displays using HI-MACS® included the MOMA Design bath and wellness area at Urban Nes(x)t. This showed the unique hammam bath – whereby the heat is generated through heated panels giving a pleasing low energy consumption, which was a major issue especially in discussions with young architects. The programme also includes the Fountain Double whirlpool bath with white all-round LED lighting and the stylish, freestanding Tower Elipse washbasin – all made from HI-MACS®.
The “home of the future”, created by Italian architect’s studio Bestetti Associati, displayed two partition walls made from HI-MACS®, these were designed to resemble a nest, a symbolic refuge for the loft concept, as well as protecting stand as a whole.

On show also were the outstanding works from Busnelli for the bookshelf Goldenice, Dolcevita and Decolan. All located on the Urban Nes(x)t. “You can’t get more Next Generation than this”, one amazed Italian visitor remarked, while she gave back her 3-D-glasses she had used to test the thrilling 3-D-TV-set, also present on the stand by LG Electronics.
