Competing with over 135 retailers, designers and architects, the Saudi Arabia-based telecom operator and retailer, utilized multimedia and technology including, storewide audio, self-service kiosks and digital signage networks in its store design concept in attempt to increase its customer base.
The main objective behind creating the new concept was to transform inactive in-store time into active time by decreasing waiting time.
‘K-Zones’ or ‘Knowledge Zones’ were created by Mobily in each store. The zones feature a technical support space to assist existing users, an Internet area for free web access, a gaming zone, a self-service space with interactive kiosks and a welcome desk that features a Q-Matic customer management system.
The mobile technology retailer took the help of Pro-AV, an audio video solution supplier and Scala certified partner, for designing interactive store environments within its stores. Scala digital signage software has been used to power over 19 LED screens, 1,000 plasma screens, five video walls, 100 kiosks for 260 Mobily stores.
Founded in 1961, Retail Design Institute is a non-profit organization that includes creative professionals from the retail industry. Members discuss fast-paced planning and design requirements of retail. Members include interior designers, lighting designers, graphic designers, architects, store planners and visual merchandisers.
Held on January 12, 2009 in New York City, the International Store Design Awards Show acknowledges the best stores in the world in more than 18 categories for retail architecture and design.
