The two-storey extension will accommodate new classrooms, extra toilets, a larger hall and an additional nursery class. The extension will also be accessible by means of a lift, which will be installed to allow access for people with disabilities.

The project will also enhance staff facilities. The school plans to keep the classes open during the construction phase to minimise disturbance, and will stage the project in multiple phases, with entire work scheduled for a wrap-up in October 2013.

The design and construction of the building will respect the principles of sustainability. The project is being aspired for BREEAM Good accreditation. In order to achieve this, attention will be paid on construction method and choice of materials for construction.

The project was awarded to Morgan Sindall under the provisions of a £1 billion ($2 billion) Improvement and Efficiency South East (iESE) framework. The framework has a tenure of four-year and will be used by public sector organisations to procure major building works across the full spectrum of new build and refurbishment schemes in education, health and community buildings.
