Blending historical features with state-of-the-art facilities, the renovation has resulted in a unique multi-purpose exhibition, function and theatre space. The scheme has created a 462-seat arts centre, with 369 seats in the Main Auditorium complemented by a further 93 in the new Studio Theatre. The Pavilion Arts Centre has been designed in such a way that it allows for dual events to take place simultaneously. Both the Studio Theatre and Main Auditorium are suitable for lecture-style presentations with retractable seating that has been used to ensure that the venue can be used for multiple purposes.
Offering flat floor exhibition spaces of 80 square meters and 200 square meters, the Pavilion Arts Centre will host a variety of events, including the popular Antique and Collectors Fairs, H&H Classic Car Auctions and the Healing Arts Festival. The fully-equipped private meeting rooms offer an alternative to hotel lobbies.
Redevelopment work has also restored the Heritage Green Flag gardens and the Pavilion Gardens to enable the venue to host social events including weddings and family functions as well as conferences, award ceremonies and exhibitions.
The Pavilion Arts Centre will be jointly managed and programmed by High Peak Borough Council, who will use it for conferences, meetings, fairs and exhibitions, and High Peak Theatre Trust, who will use it as a second venue to the main house with an alternative programme. The Buxton Festival, Buxton Festival Fringe and International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival will also use the venue for part of their programmes each year.
