With an aim to create a smarter, better, and greener station in Nottingham, the transformation plan includes the creation of a brand new concourse and linking of the new Queen’s Road multi-storied car park and tram stop.
The transformation and improvement work of the station will include the restoration of the Grade 2 listed buildings and creation of an attractive vehicle-free Porte Cochere at the station. It also includes the improved passenger and operator facilities, including upgraded travel information, displays, improved toilets, ticket office, shops, cafes and waiting areas; creation of a new concourse connecting trains, trams and the car park.
In addition to that, the renovation project also includes new retail space within the station, improved public realm around the station, new energy-efficient lighting systems, and new and improved facilities for disabled people, cyclists and taxis.
The major phase of works will be carried out by Taylor Woodrow, which is a part of the UK-based concessions and construction company VINCI. The improvement works will take place over the next 18 months and will be completed in early 2014.
