IN THE CONSTANTLY evolving hospitality landscape, creating a truly distinctive hotel interior demands a mastery of diverse skills. Designers must strike a delicate balance between familiarity and indulgence, crafting spaces where guests feel both warmly welcomed and captivated by the extraordinary. This duality often requires innovative design solutions alongside the sensitive restoration of historic buildings, breathing new life into spaces rich with character.
From a bold London sanctuary that embraces the personality of surrounding streets, to an art-infused Alpine retreat, a luxurious Maldives escape, and a New York hideaway brimming with Big Apple swagger, these spaces seek not just to provide visitors with a place to rest, but to wholeheartedly welcome, reinvigorate and inspire.

THE NI HAO HOTEL nestled within a bustling street market in Chengu, China, aims to offer a true escape from the busy streets outside.
The interiors have been created with Chinese cultural principles of friendliness, politeness and openness in mind, utilising numerous slogans and signs to convey positive emotions and messages throughout the various spaces of the hotel. Throughout the interior scheme, design studio Vermilion Zhou has incorporated the ‘calabash’, a traditional Chinese symbol that signifies blessings, fortune and safety for travellers.

The hotel design also considers the replication requirements of chain hotels and, as such, all the furniture has been created with a modular approach to reduce construction complexity and minimise environmental pollution. www.vermilionzhou.com
