The project has been designed by Looney & Associates and will be developed by RIDA Development Corporation. The renovation will transform it into DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh-Green Tree. The new hotel will house a total of 465 rooms.
The guest rooms of the revamped building will be equipped with MP3-compatible stereo clock radios, spacious work desks comprising dataports, Wolfgang Puck gourmet coffee service, and Crabtree & Evelyn Citron bath items. The lobby of the hotel will be remodelled as part of the project. The design of the new lobby will draw reference to the four seasons with use of taupe shades, natural prints, and outdoor design features of Pittsburgh.
The meeting area of the facility will span over 40,000 square feet and will facilitate meetings, conferences and social events. The event area will be equipped with advanced audiovisual equipment and communications applications, as well as a self-service business centre. Among the various other features of the hotel are an advanced fitness facility, an indoor/outdoor swimming pool and whirlpool, The Restaurant, sports bar, Champions Club and a Bistro Marketplace along with a coffee bar.
Work is scheduled for completion by the end of 2012.
