Situated on a sloping site owned by Monklands Hospital, the building will occupy a 250 to 300 square meters site at the edge of the hospital’s grounds. The building rises out of the ground from an entrance area, featuring blocks of planting into a series of overlapping perforated grids. The scheme plans to retain the existing trees and incorporate them in the design to rise up through the building’s courtyard spaces.

Neil Gillespie, the project architect, was reported stating that their scheme will be primarily about landscape and light and views. He adds that in many ways it is an overlapping idea of inside and outside.
