Located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, the hospital’s facelift would include upgrading its five-bedded intensive care unit (ICU) to a 12-bedded one. Apart from this, the top floor of the Infosys building would now be used for 24 pre-operative and 15 post-operative wards.
The facelift would also include installation of a heart lung machine along with other equipments such as ventilators, anesthesia machine, cardiac monitors, camera and audio visual system.
Earlier, the department could conduct 25 operations every month. However, with the facelift it would have the capacity to conduct 60 operations per month.
Dr Avinash Inamdar, head of the Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery, said that the department will be shut for nearly six weeks because of the large scale of the facelift, according to ExpressIndia.com. However, patients would not suffer as they have been recommended to other hospitals.
