The inauguration function commemorated the completion of the 250-bed Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Hospital at Muzafarabad.

Sheikh Khalifa hospital complex is built over 70,000 square meters of area with a covered area of around 15,000 square meters. Designed to meet international standards, the hospital features environment-friendly facilities. Located on the Seismic Zone 4, the structure is built to meet the requirements of an earthquake prone area.

The hospital complex comprises the main hospital building, ancillary buildings and residential complex with external works.

The two-story main building structure has four elevators and staircases for convenience of movement. It also has the Out-Patient Department (OPD), specialist clinics, pathology department, radiology department having latest MRI, CT scan, fluoroscopy, General X-ray, mammography, OPG, and ultrasound, apart from a blood bank.

A fully equipped emergency department, orthopedic ward, physiotherapy ward, private ward, psychiatry ward, burn ward, medical and surgical wards for male and female patients, children’s ward, and a maternity ward with neonatal care are the new features of the hospital. All rooms have been integrated with latest equipment and monitors.

The hospital complex also includes a central kitchen, cafeteria, gift shops, pharmacy, and complete administration blocks with library, symposium room and accounts.

The hospital also provides ancillary facilities like CSSD, laundry, incinerator, mortuary, plant room, two substations, metering room, stand-by generators, underground water tank ( 100,000 gallons) are also provided in the hospital.

A sewerage treatment plant has also been installed that treats water to supply irrigation plants. Residential complex with two hostels, an apartment building and a Villa for Medical Superintendent of the hospital are also located within the hospital.

Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of United Arab Emirates, has donated the hospital to the people of Azad Kashmir. The construction of the hospital was monitored by the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Charitable Association.

The hospital was completed in two years with combined efforts of the Department of Municipal Affairs, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, Morganti Group, the project manager, Osmani and Company (Pvt.) Ltd., project consultants and M/s. Al-Jawahir Technical Pakistani Contracting Company, the contractor, D.G Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed.
