Architect Karim Chakor renovated the façade and exterior of the hotel while the designer Didier Gomez was responsible for the interior decoration. Sofitel features 229 rooms including 37 suites, many of which cover the floor space of more than 305 square meters.
The hotel which is spread across an eight hectare (20 acre) Andalusian park, a eucalyptus forest and a rose garden, also includes a spa which is 4,000 square meters in size.
The interior décor of the hotel is inspired from water, roses and amber, which are the three recurrent elements. The entrance of the hotel opens onto a lobby which features a water pool made of black marble.
The El Patio restaurant is dominated by red and black theme, opening into the park. The use of mirrors highlights the luminosity and openness of the restaurant. The Agadir marble is used on the floor of the marble which offsets a red and black Moroccan carpet by Didier Gomez. The marble used on the floor is outlined by a moucharabieh, a decorative lattice pattern detail.
The furniture is eclectic and uses black for occidental sobriety and luxury. The lobby, in an addition to the hotel’s boutiques, serves as home to the Fish restaurant as well as the Le Café Lenôtre tearoom. A traditional design reproducing a work of Rousseau, a customs officer, has been used for the decoration on one of the walls.
Al Warda, the Moroccan restaurant exudes warm colors. The Amber Bar features alabaster walls, a copper ceiling and gold painted moucharabiehs, which continues on the decoration of rooms which are presented as panels.
