Called the Point4T, the 5680 square meter centre, has been designed to improve the education and training for people who are blind or partially sighted.

The new facilities feature an IFI Stage two accredited, Cybex-equipped gym, a community gym boasting a total of 75 stations, two spa rooms, a fitness pool, massage facilities, conference and meeting rooms, wheelchair access and a licensed restaurant.

The facility has tactile landmarks on the stairwells, floors and skirting to aid with navigation and tactile entry is provided to cater for the visually impaired users, and as part of the college’s aim to become IFI accredited.

The sports center also feature touch screen computers offering a schematic diagram of the building and each piece of equipment in the centre. There are six information points to enable easy navigation and better understanding of the equipment for disabled users.

The centre also incorporates indoor and outdoor sports pitches and a sports hall with retractable seating for 280 people.

The project was funded by the sale of land and grants from the Learning and Skills Council, Advantage West Midlands, The Football Foundation, Garfield Weston and Sports England.
