Developed by the Steinbach-based PennCo Construction, the newly constructed expansion will be used as the foundations academy for grades 9 and 10. The existing SRSS facility will become a specialised academy for grades 11 and 12 after renovations.

Located adjacent to the existing Steinbach Regional Secondary School, the new building will be approximately 92,400 square feet and will accommodate 675 students. Featuring new spacious classrooms, the new high school will include band and choral, wood manufacturing, cosmetology and human ecology rooms, and a daycare with space for 20 infants and 54 preschool children.

PennCo will also add 10,100 square feet of vocational space to the SRSS and upgrade 2,500 square feet of previously renovated space. To meet the growing demands for vocational education, the addition and renovation will include a new welding and power mechanics shop.

Providing the much-needed child care for families in Steinbach, the new school will provide the children a supportive, caring environment. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2014.
