Strata’s GranazzoCem tiles were specified for the floor surfaces throughout, including the ticket halls, concourse, arrival/departure platforms and retail areas.

Wilkinson Eyre, which won the project in an architectural competition run by TfL, chose the product for its durability, because it is supplied prefinished and, unlike conventional terrazzo, requires no on-site grinding and finishing.

To increase its density and reduce porosity GranazzoCem is produced in a vacuum and contains 75 per cent granite and quartz minerals.

The Air Line cable car service, which opened in July, can carry up to 2,500 people an hour across the Thames in both directions, something that could otherwise take 30 buses to achieve, says TfL.
