Submitted to the Borough of Newham Council, the sleek 24 story building is covered with colored panels on two sides to provide solar shading. The third side of the building is open to reveal a vertical forest of planting enclosing terraces and balconies.
The façade of the building, made of curved aluminum bands, provides solar and wind protection and also accommodate photovoltaic panels producing electricity for the buildings use.
The building also features ground source heat pumps that are built into the foundations and a central biomass energy center. Other green features of the eco-tower include high levels of insulation, closable winter gardens, and windows and thermal shutters to provide improved thermal efficiency.
The tower will house 161 large residential units of various sizes, with the first floor featuring a communal landscaped open deck. Commercial offices, retail and cafés will be housed on the lower levels.
