Three years ago, entrepreneur Tamsen started his own yacht building business and launched the Tamsen 41M range of superyachts built in Turkey. Now, Hamburg businessman Heiner Tamsen has acquired the assets of the insolvent SMG Werft in Rostock and plans to create a superyacht building refit and repair facility in the city under the name of Tamsen Maritime.
The first new project to be built at the Rostock facility is likely to be a 55m (180ft) superyacht that has already been commissioned. It is the vision of Heiner Tamsen that Tamsen Maritime will push ahead with propulsion, processing and composite technologies to ensure that yacht building, conversions and refits in Germany will prove to be more than state-of-the-art.
