The windows will be inserted into cedar cladding, brickwork and render and have a dark grey polyester powder coating finish. Each window is double glazed by using clear toughened glass and low-emissivity, laminated solar control glass to suit the various orientations and elevations. The windows are manufactured and fixed by Quest Solutions in a GBP2 million contract for MPG Facades.
The new 700 bed, 86,000 square meter hospital will have 46 departments that offer various facilities including women’s and children’s services, pathology, full acute services, an outpatient rehabilitation institute, a regional burns unit, spinal injuries unit, diagnostics and critical care facility.
The hospital, which is expected to open in fall 2011, is part of a GBP311 million project for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust developed by Consort Healthcare, a joint venture between Haden Young and Balfour Beatty.
