Located on the ground floor of the County Hall at Bythesea Road in Trowbridge, the new library is noted for its layout. It comprises a children’s area with a book train and an improved teen area, a large local studies space and express zone for quick reference. The library also features window seating and has half a mile of shelving.

The library has a sympathetic design, which also attends to the needs of disabled patrons. Specific features comprise of accessible toilets, automatic doors, disabled parking, low level counters, rails outside the building, and ramps. The building provides wheelchair access and also allow dogs inside which are registered for providing assistance to their masters.

The entire scheme is energy-efficient. The project forms phase I of the larger project which involves new avenues for public buildings, and making those more practical, efficient and welcoming.

It offers 40,000 books, 2,000 DVDs and a large collection of blu-rays.
