The current renovations will provide more navigable and logical corridors and classrooms apart from adding two stairways, an elevator shaft and double the number of faculty offices.
In previous renovations, the original T shaped building was converted to H shape, which resulted in strange shape of the interior. The current renovation is aimed at making the building more open, modernised and more accessible to the disabled. The project will preserve the shell of the building as well as the old entrance with the front stairway and all the marble fixings that give it that old charm.
Stadium seating on the second floor of the building has been added in the open area to provide students a place to hang out or professors a place to teach. The cupola is now above the open area and will shed natural light throughout the third and second floors of the building. Large storefront windows have been added to the side of the building to improve natural light at the seminar rooms.
The construction crew had completely reframed the interior of Tucker to allow it to hold the new fixtures and new floors. Meanwhile, workers are in the process of outlining new classrooms, stairwells and elevators with steel frames, while enhancing the ductwork, plumbing and heating in the building to modernise the interior.
