The 95,000 square feet vertical addition to the existing 10 story building introduces new materials and forms to complement the pre-cast concrete materials of the existing building. The project involves the addition of two clinical patient floors, a continuing education conference center, administrative offices and expansion of the simulation lab and teaching facilities for students. The project also aims to meet the standards for LEED certification.

The original plan envisioned by Tufts in 1972 had a 16 story structure, which was truncated to construct only 10 floors at a time due to budget constraints.

The project is slated to reach completion by the end of the year.
