As part of the Transforming Tate Modern project, Uxus will design retail stores for the existing Tate Modern as well as the extension block, designed by Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. The ground floor of the extension will house the new store spanning more than 300 square meter and is expected to be completed by 2013.
The objective behind the project is to create a distinctive retail concept that enhances and supports the overall Tate Modern brand experience. Uxus has been selected following an international strategic and credentials pitch against three other groups.
Uxus will present a set of concepts to Tate, and will be able to reveal more detailed plans in about six months.
The Tate is an institution that houses the UK’s national collection of British Art, and International Modern and Contemporary Art. It is a network of four art museums: Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives, and Tate Modern.
