The new lounge incorporates a modern, light and airy look. It features a lying maiden curtain behind the reception desk. The ceiling of the new lounge is formed of dark wood over the entrance and sports clean white colour throughout the main area. The lounge will feature chairs by Walter Knoll.
The flowing area has been segregated into various nooks which includes numerous quiet zones to serve impromptu meetings. The area also features a dedicated quiet library retreat space as well as a high bar to allow guests to socialise. The front of the lounge comprises a desk for customer service. There are also several discrete areas in the lounge to enable travellers to take rest. A short stay area has been created in the lounge close to the entrance, the service desk and the food & drink space to facilitate passengers having a short period of time before their flight.
The lounge will be equipped with LED lighting with adaptable colour to suit different times of the day. The lights will provide a brighter beam during the morning and more soothing illumination at the end of the day. The lounge will also feature a mixed-use space for solo travellers and groups. The lower level and far end of the lounge will consist of a library fitted with drapes around the windows and carpet on the floor to minimise the sound. The lounge will also incorporate one small as well as one large meeting room.
Virgin Australia’s barista service will be open with the opening of the lounge. There will also be a lounge eatery which is a raised area with curvy workbenches. There is a funky high bar designed as a stand-up zone for socialising. Further, there is a ramp leading upwards from the workbenches and the bar which opens onto the verandah facing the tarmac.
The bathrooms of the lounge will be equipped with two retractable shaving mirrors and a shower stall. It will comprise locally-made organic skincare products from Grown. Other features of the lounge will include pop-up AC powerpoints. There will be eight workstation cubicles with six advanced Windows desktops, a printer and fax/copier outside the lounge.
