The new build has a total area of 105,000 square feet. Construction on the new school began in 2009 and was completed in mid-2010. The Learning Village has classes from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The new campus features several green elements, based on which it received LEED certification. The green elements include a geothermal HVAC system, which has more than 100 wells that efficiently heat and cool the building. The school also has an underground cistern that has a capacity to store 75,000 gallons of rainwater and runoff for irrigation.
The school features Integrated Concrete Form (ICF) walls that make the building very energy efficient. The campus features large, energy-efficient windows that brings in natural light into the building and cutback dependence on additional lighting. The Learning Village was verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) for LEED certification.
