The property, slated for opening in August 1, 2010, has been designed as an all-villa beachfront resort offering panoramic sunrise and sunset views of the Gulf of Thailand. W Retreat Koh Samui can be described as an island within an island reflecting the dual nature of Koh Samui.
W Retreat Koh Samui features 75 private villas equipped with a private pool, daybeds, outdoor shower, Yamaha sound system, 46-inch LCD TV, wine refrigerator, and the signature W bed. The property will also feature W’s signature W Lounge offering stunning ocean views. Interactive digital floor projections, off-white terrazzo floors, high ceilings clad in angular bleached wood veneer panels, large bookshelves and oversized lamps are some of the distinct elements of the lounge. A water feature and a lotus flower-shaped relaxing area are also featured at the hotel.
W Retreat Koh Samui features WooBar created from large pieces of raw-cut local quarry stone. A DJ booth is placed that overlooks the bar on the mezzanine level. The WooBar featuring a striking, two-story high wine cellar, and has been designed to become the ultimate destination for lifestyle events.
W Retreat Koh Samui features signature Japanese restaurant Namu, featuring spiral ceiling, subdued lighting, outdoor dining, an open kitchen, a polished concrete floor with pebble inlay, and a water feature that surrounds the restaurant. The restaurant features the bar, outdoor dining area and private daybeds. The hotel features a Way Spa comprising spa villas, TONIC juice bar and the first ‘Thaimazcal’ treatment facility. It is a domed space with pebble flooring and raw-rock seating.
W Retreat Koh Samui also features the Great Room function area designed to host business gatherings and creative meetings. The Residences at W Retreat Koh Samui is located adjacent to W Retreat Koh Samui, featuring 17 secluded beachfront villas ranging from three to five bedrooms and from 1,000 to 2,752 square meters.
W Retreat Koh Samui’s architectural design has been provided by MAPS Design Studio and the interiors have been designed by Thailand-based design firm P49 Deesign.
