The project involves addition of a new entry pavilion, a larger gift shop and two galleries to the old museum. The project will develop new enclosed courtyard galleries, which will be used to showcase artworks by Walter Inglis Anderson, Peter Anderson and James McConnell Anderson that are currently stored at the museum.
The project will expand the entry space of the museum to accommodate large tour groups. The museum will receive new structural glazing systems, skylights, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The interiors of the new built will be matched with the wood walls, ceilings, and flooring of the existing facility.
The estimated capital outflow of the project is $700,000, which is being funded through a US Department of Housing and Urban Development grant, applied for by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors on behalf of the museum.
