The renovation in the campus was undertaken as part of Notre Dame’s $11.6-million Past, Present, Promise Capital Campaign. The Campaign includes stadium renovation, construction of a new grotto dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, an endowment and a new field house for sports and other activities. The renovation also include an enhanced educational space comprising additional classrooms and technology upgrades.
The stadium features AstroTurf – a brand of artificial turf – along with new bleachers and improved track. AstroTurf incorporates modern features such as antimicrobial protection, rubber infill, backing systems and nylon yarn fibers to enhance the longevity and efficiency of the turf.
The stadium was dedicated on September 25, 2009 before the school’s varsity Homecoming football game.
